unser zweites Zeitreise-Rennen führt uns nach Belgien am Montag, 11. März 2019, um 19 Uhr auf Spa Historic.

Zum Fahrzeug:
1966 hatte man den Hubraum auf 3 l verdoppelt. Der Lotus 49 wurde von 1967 bis 1970 eingesetzt und war der erste, aber weiß Gott nicht der letzte F1-Wagen mit einem Cosworth-V8-Motor im Heck. An den späteren Modellen wurden erste Versuche mit Flügeln unternommen, unser heutiges Exemplar von 1967 ist allerdings noch absolut flügelfrei. Mit 416 PS, aber nur 565 kg haben wir hier ein schnelles Auto mit null Abtrieb. Solange der 49 im Einsatz war, stellte er auf der Strecke die Messlatte dar. 1968 fuhr Graham Hill in ihm zur Weltmeisterschaft.

Zum Rennen:
Die Rennstrecke von Spa-Francorchamps war 1967 noch 14,1 km lang und sehr schnell. Da die erste Startreihe damals drei Autos breit war, hatten es beide Lotus 49 in die erste Reihe geschafft, mit Graham Hill auf Platz 3 und Jim Clark auf Pole. Als Sieger ging am Ende aber der auf Platz 2 gestartete Dan Gourney im Eagle-Weslake hervor. Überschattet wurde das Rennen vom schweren Unfall des Briten Mike Parkes, der seinen Ferrari 312 in der ersten Runde in Blanchimont auf einer Ölspur verlor und schwere Beinverletzungen erlitt. Parkes musste daraufhin seine aktive Karriere beenden.

Yep, sauschwer, überall so an die Grenze zu gehen, dass eine schnelle Runde dabei rauskommt. Zu schnell bleibt man irgendwo hängen und die Mühle ist im Eimer. Ich freue mich auch!

From what I have seen before, the engine is way more solid in online races than it is in single player practice sessions. Let´s hope the best.

Very much flat out on this track, hard work for the engine.

On which server can I have Spa Historic ?

You can config #5 if you like. I tested today, the engine lasts way longer in multiplayer.

I tried but we can not change the setup ! (car setup )

Server#5 is free, you can configure it whatever you want. That said, you probably have to allow custom setups. Go to the top of those three windows on the left, it´s the one with the track showing, if I remember correctly. Tick one of the arrows to get to the settings page and set "allow custom setups" to >yes<. Or maybe the other way round, I can´t remember.

Hey Christian,
for you to know...i had problems with select the track.

I don't know why, but after i selectet in offline race menue and offline free practice (?) it was working...so if you can't choos the track, because she is hidden, try the workaround...

Hey Christian and all others, I have to apologise! Me and Alex have been practicing today on the Event Server and we found that the engine wear is as high as in single player! That means it gives me 4-5% in a regular lap or 2-3% on a slow lap. In single player my engine blew in lap 22 with 100% engine wear! So we all have to decide for either a pit stop or going slow. I assume that the server on which I tested the other day was on different settings.
If deciding for a pit stop, make sure that engine repair is turned on.

Und weil es wirklich wichtig ist, hier noch mal auf Deutsch: Entgegen meiner Behauptung von neulich ist der Motorverschleiß genauso hoch wie im single player. Wer immer bis kurz vor den Begrenzer dreht, wird das Rennen nicht ohne Reparaturstop überstehen. Also entweder langsam fahren oder einen Stop einplanen!

EDIT: Denkt daran, dass die Motorreparatur eingeschaltet sein muss (ist so voreingestellt), sonst macht die Crew nix!

So, it does not seem very realistic if you have to redo the engine during an F1 race!
it could also be a very very long stop.
Unless you try a race without stopping

Auf was wirkt sich das alles aus?

I don´t know what would be the faster way. Losing about 2sec per lap would mean 56 sec over all. This could be faster than a stop but on the other hand you could start with less fuel and go faster, then refuel once you´re in the pits anyway. Could be interesting.

I would be okay with deactivating engine wear as long as it does not deactivate every kind of damage. I believe you can turn off "mechanical failures", right? Maybe this is the key?

I would be okay with both as long as we can agree early enough to one or the other so everyone can be well prepared.

After all, it's also the duty race to manage with the fragility of an engine. An extra element to manage to win or lose.
I would be to leave as it was planned !

Jup, me to.

It's the way you have to choose, fast laptimes and refuel with repair, or slower laptimes and no stop (yes it should be possible!)...but first you have to make no fail...

Okay, so we have a decision. I am happy with that, as I like to see that extra tactical element everyone has to cope with. And just in case that somebody will find himself stranded with a blown engine: Welcome to F1 1967.

In German:
Es ist beschlossen worden, mit dem erhöhten Motorverschleiß zu fahren. Jeder muss also für sich entscheiden, ob er lieber etwas früher hochschaltet, Sekunden verliert und dafür durchfahren kann oder doch lieber einen exzessiven Boxenstopp mit großer Inspektion einlegt.

Ich wünsche uns allen viel Spaß! Nicht vergessen, die Veranstaltung beginnt am MONTAG um 19 Uhr.

Hallo erstmal,

die Entscheidung finde ich gut.

Nicht ganz so gut, dass wir schon um 19:00 Uhr anfangen (für mich; und andererseits fahren wir FR wir erst um 20:00 Uhr ).
Anyway; neuer Job geht vor (Chef aus den USA ist diese Woche anwesend..)!
Sollte es aber vor 20:00 Uhr schaffen.

Zum Verschleiss: ich prophezeihe (für mch!), dass ich das Auto ein paarmal so "wickeln" werde,dass ich sowieso reparieren muss. Also immer Vollgas!
Ich teste nachher mal...
Man schiesst sich auf der Strecke!

Zur Erinnerung für alle:
ab 19:00 Qualifying (45 min)
ab ca. 19:45 Rennen (28 Laps)
Für Montagsrennen erschien mir ein Beginn um 20 Uhr etwas zu spät. Vielleicht lerne ich aber auch wieder was für eine zukünftige Meisterschaft dazu.

Auf dieser Strecke dürfte die Startposition völlig egal sein, da es reichlich Überholmöglichkeiten gibt. Also würde es zur Not auch noch reichen, wenn Du 19:40 Uhr beitrittst.

So. Habe ausgiebig getestet und sogar zweimal die komplette Renndistanz absolviert. Das Rennen kann kommen. Will nur hoffen, das ich das Rennen auch zuende fahren kann. Ich freue mich auf alle Fälle auf das Event.
